U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he views the Strait of Hormuz as American territory at present and that Iran is not ready to make the right deal.
Trump’s remarks came amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian claimed the world has accepted that Iran defeated the United States and that the conflict should end because Iran controls the strait and has not yielded to U.S. demands.
Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander Ahmad Vahidi stated that the country has built a solid defensive shield against external threats and is facing new forms of combined military aggression.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments. Any disruption raises prices and supply risks worldwide.
Both sides have exchanged statements asserting control or readiness. No new military action was reported on Saturday, but the rhetoric keeps the risk of escalation elevated.
