An Air India flight from Frankfurt to Delhi diverted to Jaipur on Wednesday after the pilot issued a hijack alert, prompting security checks of the Boeing 787-9 and its passengers.
The aircraft was carrying around 293 passengers and 13 crew members. It landed safely at Jaipur. Authorities conducted a full security sweep. No threat was found. The flight later resumed its journey to Delhi.
The alert was described as a hijack code transmitted by the pilot. Indian authorities treated the diversion as a security matter and completed the standard checks before clearing the aircraft. No injuries were reported. The false alert added delay but did not alter the flight’s ultimate destination.
Air India has faced several security-related diversions and alerts in recent months. Wednesday’s incident followed the established protocol: land at the nearest suitable airport, secure the aircraft, search passengers and cabin, and continue only after clearance. Jaipur has handled similar diversions before.
The concrete sequence is the pilot’s transmission of the hijack code, the diversion of the Dreamliner to Jaipur, the completion of security checks that found nothing, and the subsequent continuation to Delhi. The airline and authorities have not released further detail on why the code was sent.
