H1N1 cases continued to rise in Delhi, with the capital recording 1,777 infections and Delhi-NCR reporting 1,344. In the latest 24-hour period, 159 new cases were logged.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda called a high-level meeting to review the situation. Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai have also reported increases, particularly among children.
Health authorities are monitoring hospital admissions and laboratory-confirmed cases. Public advisories have focused on early testing for flu-like symptoms and vaccination where recommended.
The surge coincides with the monsoon season, when respiratory infections typically increase. Hospitals in the National Capital Region have reported higher outpatient loads for influenza-like illness.
Officials are assessing whether additional measures, including targeted vaccination drives or temporary restrictions, will be required. Updated figures are expected in the coming days as testing continues.
