Delhi has reported a sharp surge in H1N1 cases, with more than 1,770 infections recorded and 114 new cases in a single day as of 21 August 2026.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda called a review meeting the same day to address the eight-fold increase and discuss public health measures.
The rise coincides with monsoon conditions that often facilitate the spread of respiratory viruses. Hospitals have begun tracking admissions more closely.
Earlier in the week the city also notified its Master Plan 2047, which includes provisions for expanded health infrastructure among other urban targets.
Officials have not yet issued a formal advisory beyond the review meeting. Testing and isolation protocols remain in place at major hospitals.
