Wildfires, Floods and Storms Hit Multiple European Countries

Severe weather continued across parts of Europe on Monday, with wildfires, flooding and storms affecting several countries.
In Serbia, an EU response involving helicopters and firefighters is helping battle a blaze that has engulfed more than 1,600 hectares in the Deliblatska Peščara Nature Reserve. Firefighters in Spain’s Valencia region stabilised a wildfire that burned around 630 hectares and forced more than 1,000 people to evacuate.
Flooding in Tarragona, Spain, injured 11 people after more than 145 mm of rain fell in some areas. Further north, Poland recorded more than 6,500 storm-related incidents since Friday.
The combination of prolonged dry periods followed by intense rainfall has become a recurring pattern in recent European summers. Local emergency services remain under pressure as multiple events overlap.
EU civil protection mechanisms have been activated for the Serbian fire. National authorities in Spain and Poland continue to manage local responses while monitoring forecasts for further heavy rain and high winds.
The events add to a season already marked by extreme weather that has damaged infrastructure, agriculture and tourism in several member states.
