Sensex closes 287 points higher as Nifty settles at 24,335
Indian benchmarks rebounded on Tuesday. Healthcare and pharma shares led gains while crude oil prices eased from recent highs after US Iran sanctions fell short of some market expectations.

The BSE Sensex closed 286.98 points, or 0.37%, higher at 77,656.09 on Tuesday. The NSE Nifty 50 gained 115.50 points, or 0.48%, to settle at 24,334.55.
Healthcare and pharmaceutical shares were among the strongest performers. Broader market sentiment improved after crude oil prices moderated from recent peaks. Brent crude had risen earlier on West Asia tensions but eased once the latest US sanctions on Iran were viewed as less severe than some traders had anticipated.
The rupee strengthened by 24 paise to close at 95.46 against the US dollar, supported by the firm equity market and the softer oil prices.
Investors remained cautious ahead of the monthly expiry of Nifty derivatives contracts. Trading volumes were moderate. Analysts noted that sustained gains would depend on clarity around global energy supplies and domestic corporate results in the coming sessions.
Among individual stocks, Apollo Pipes hit a 52-week high after a promoter stake purchase. Several mid-cap names also participated in the rebound.
