The PM CARES Fund released its audited accounts for 2023-24 and 2024-25 on 18 August 2026. The 2024-25 statement shows a closing balance of ₹8,452 crore as on 31 March 2025, up from ₹7,173 crore a year earlier.
Of that sum, ₹7,846 crore was held in fixed deposits and ₹605 crore in savings bank accounts. Interest earned on the deposits reached approximately ₹469–475 crore during the year, nearly matching the total donations received.
Domestic donations fell 30 percent to ₹479 crore. Foreign donations declined 18 percent to ₹92.8 lakh. Total voluntary contributions therefore stood near ₹480 crore.
Spending remained minimal. The fund recorded total payments of ₹87.85 lakh in 2024-25. Of this, ₹87.84 lakh went to the PM CARES for Children scheme. The remaining ₹451 covered bank and SMS charges. The previous year the fund had spent ₹15.6 crore, almost all of it on the same children’s scheme.
Implementing agencies returned ₹324.66 crore of earlier allotments during the year. No detailed breakdown of those returns appears in the published statement.
The figures show a fund that continues to accumulate balances while disbursing less than 0.02 percent of its corpus in the latest financial year. Interest income has become the dominant source of receipts, exceeding new donations.
