North Eastern Railway runs longest freight train Awadh Mahashakti
The 160-km train from Gonda to Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh averaged 42 kmph and completed the run in under four hours, setting a new operational record for the zone.

The North Eastern Railway has operated its longest-ever freight train, named Awadh Mahashakti, covering 160 kilometres from Gonda to Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh.
The train achieved an average speed of 42 kmph and completed the journey in 3 hours and 50 minutes. The run demonstrates improved capacity and efficiency on the network.
Officials said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to maximise freight throughput. No major technical issues were reported during the trial.
Indian Railways continues to test longer and heavier trains as part of its freight modernisation programme.
