India’s Ajit Doval Arrives in Beijing for 25th Round of Boundary Talks

India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval arrived in Beijing on Monday ahead of the 25th round of Special Representatives talks on the India-China boundary question.

Doval is scheduled to meet his Chinese counterpart, Politburo member and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, on Tuesday. The discussions form part of ongoing efforts to manage the border situation following the 2020 clashes in eastern Ladakh.

The meeting comes as both countries prepare for a possible visit related to the BRICS grouping next month. Officials on both sides have described the talks as an opportunity to advance disengagement and stabilise relations.

India and China have held multiple rounds of military and diplomatic talks since 2020. Progress has been incremental, with some friction points resolved while others remain under discussion.

Doval’s visit is being closely watched for any signals of movement on remaining disputed areas along the Line of Actual Control.
