Heavy Rain and Storms Disrupt Flights and Traffic Across Delhi-NCR

Heavy rainfall and gusty winds disrupted air traffic and road movement across Delhi and the National Capital Region on Monday.

More than 250 flights were delayed and 15 were diverted from Delhi, many to Jaipur, as monsoon conditions intensified. The India Meteorological Department had issued alerts for the region.

Roads in Gurugram experienced major congestion. Visuals showed slow vehicular movement on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway and other arterial routes. Similar conditions affected Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.

The rains added to waterlogging in low-lying areas. Local authorities monitored drainage and traffic management.

Flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport faced cascading delays as aircraft were held or rerouted. Airlines advised passengers to check status before travelling to the airport.

The weather system formed part of broader monsoon activity affecting several northern states. Forecasts indicated the intensity would ease in the following days, though further spells remained possible.

Commuters and air travellers adjusted plans as the day progressed. Public transport services operated with delays on some routes.
