HD Hyundai Robotics Cuts Robot Troubleshooting Time 63 Percent With Palantir AI Agents
Field engineers at the South Korean firm now average 7.9 days to resolve robot-program problems, down from 21.5 days, after AI agents began analysing code in August. Programming costs are expected to fall by more than half.

HD Hyundai Robotics has reduced the average time needed to fix robot-program problems from 21.5 days to 7.9 days since it began using AI agents built with Palantir Technologies in August. The 63 percent cut was presented by Chief Technology Officer Ahn Seong-hwan at Palantir’s Sovereignty Bootcamp in New York.
The agents first review existing robot programs and propose changes to sequences, movement paths and speeds. Engineers then apply their on-site knowledge to refine the suggestions. Previously, skilled engineers had to observe robots in person and make repeated manual adjustments. That process depended on individual experience and was hard to standardise across sites.
The company expects the same approach to lower robot programming costs by more than 50 percent. It also plans to shift field engineers from routine programming and commissioning work toward defining problems and implementing AI-supported solutions. Palantir’s Chief Revenue Officer Ryan Taylor said the collaboration began with projects that could show measurable results quickly and would expand by connecting HD Hyundai Robotics’ robots to Palantir’s Artificial Intelligence Platform.
The partnership sits inside a broader relationship. In January 2026, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, HD Hyundai and Palantir signed an expanded group-wide agreement valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars. That deal built on work that started in 2021 at HD Hyundai Oilbank and later extended to shipbuilding and construction equipment. HD Hyundai has said it now builds ships about 30 percent faster with the earlier Palantir systems in place.
Physical AI, as the two companies describe it, combines data from robot programs, simulation tools and engineer feedback so that software can propose concrete changes rather than only flag anomalies. The Sovereignty Bootcamp series, launched in July, focuses on AI adoption that keeps core corporate data inside the customer’s control. Three sessions have drawn roughly 450 executives from 250 organisations.
For industrial robotics the practical test is whether the time and cost reductions hold when the same agents are applied to larger fleets and more complex programs. HD Hyundai Robotics has not yet published the number of robot systems covered by the August deployment or the precise method used to measure the 21.5-to-7.9-day drop. Those details will determine how far the result travels beyond the pilot sites.
