External Affairs Minister Jaishankar in Russia for Inter-Governmental Commission

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is in Russia on 23-24 August to attend the 27th session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation.

He is scheduled to hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. The commission reviews bilateral economic and technological cooperation across multiple sectors.

The visit occurs against the backdrop of ongoing global supply-chain pressures and the continued importance of energy and defence ties between the two countries. India has maintained energy purchases from Russia while expanding other commercial channels.

Official statements from the Ministry of External Affairs described the engagement as part of the regular institutional dialogue. Outcomes are expected to cover trade facilitation, scientific collaboration and cultural exchanges.
