The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, that Russian forces lost 2,060 personnel in the preceding 24 hours. The cumulative estimate of Russian combat losses since 24 February 2022 now stands at nearly 1,594,830 personnel. The figure represents one of the higher single-day totals recorded in recent months.
Alongside personnel losses the daily summary listed 39 artillery systems, 4 armoured fighting vehicles, 4 pieces of special equipment, 363 vehicles and fuel tanks, 4 unmanned ground vehicles, 1 multiple-launch rocket system and 1,413 operational-tactical unmanned aerial vehicles. Cumulative equipment totals include 12,452 tanks, 25,633 armoured fighting vehicles, 51,840 artillery systems and 593,954 UAVs of the operational-tactical level.
Context of the Daily Figure
Ukrainian reporting of Russian losses has consistently shown high daily personnel figures throughout 2026. A report covering 1 November cited 2,500 losses, described at the time as the highest single-day total since the full-scale invasion began. The 2,060 figure for the following day remains well above the long-term average. Independent verification of exact numbers is limited; the Ukrainian General Staff figures are estimates based on battlefield reporting and are widely cited by Ukrainian media and Western outlets.
Western intelligence assessments and open-source projects such as Mediazona and the BBC have produced lower confirmed named death counts, reflecting the difference between total casualties (killed, wounded, missing) and confirmed fatalities. The Ukrainian figures include the full range of combat losses.
Equipment and Frontline Activity
The destruction of 39 artillery systems and more than 360 vehicles in a single day points to continued high-intensity fighting along several sectors. Ukrainian units have emphasised the role of drone strikes in degrading Russian logistics and artillery. The addition of 1,413 UAVs to the cumulative total continues the rapid growth of unmanned systems as a primary loss category for both sides.
On the ground, Ukrainian reports for early November noted 191 combat engagements on 2 November, with nearly 20 Russian assaults repelled in the Kostyantynivka direction alone. Russian forces continue limited advances in some sectors while absorbing the reported losses.
Longer-Term Trajectory
At the current reported rate, Russian personnel losses continue to accumulate at roughly 50,000-60,000 per month in recent periods. The sustainability of that rate depends on recruitment, mobilisation and the willingness of both sides to maintain high-intensity operations through the winter. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned of an expected large-scale Russian attack on energy and logistics infrastructure timed around the US midterm elections, when international attention may be diverted.
