President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold campaign rallies in Iowa and Kansas on 1 November 2026, two days before the midterm elections on 3 November. The events follow a brief cancellation and reinstatement of the stops. Thirty-five Senate seats and all 435 House seats are on the ballot. Republicans hold a 53-47 majority in the Senate and a narrow majority in the House. Loss of either chamber would allow Democrats to block the administration’s legislative agenda for the remainder of Trump’s term.
More than 52 million Americans have already cast ballots in person or by mail, according to the University of Florida’s Election Lab, a record for a midterm. Trump carried both Iowa and Kansas by double-digit margins in 2024. Recent polls show competitive Senate races in both states. In Kansas, which has not elected a Democratic senator since 1932, Democrat Adam Hamilton has led or tied incumbent Republican Roger Marshall in several surveys. In Iowa, Republican Ashley Hinson holds a narrow lead over Democrat Josh Turek in polling averages.
The White House said Trump would travel from Florida to Dubuque, Iowa, for an afternoon rally and then to Salina, Kansas, for an evening event. The president has also participated in a series of tele-rallies targeting candidates in multiple states. He told reporters he felt the races were close enough to warrant personal appearances and that he wanted to ensure Republican victories.
Control of Congress will determine the scope of investigations and the ability of the administration to advance its remaining agenda. Democrats need to gain a net of a few seats in the House and at least one in the Senate to take majority control. Early voting figures and the competitiveness of previously safe Republican seats have drawn attention in the final days of the campaign.
