SpaceX shares closed at 171.09 dollars on Monday, up 12.13 dollars, or 7.63 percent, and the Bloomberg Billionaires Index put Elon Musk's net worth at 1.04 trillion dollars. Overnight quotes sat near 172.23 dollars. The Monday gain added about 65 billion dollars to his fortune in a single session, on Bloomberg's count.
The threshold is not new. Bloomberg had him near 1.3 trillion dollars after the SpaceX listing. By 24 June, twelve days after the shares started trading, the same index had him at about 957 billion dollars, under the line. Monday's close is the first time in this rebound that the public tracker has put him back through 1 trillion. Forbes' real-time list also had him back over the mark. The two indexes do not use the same stake prices, so the dollar figure is the Bloomberg one.
The stock move was the larger part of the day. SpaceX, which trades as SPCX, is up about 16 percent over the past week and at its highest level since the debut. A 7.6 percent gain on Monday implied a market value near 2 trillion dollars on outstanding equity, according to market write-ups of the close. Morgan Stanley has an overweight rating and a 300 dollar target, citing the Starship launch line and Starlink. TipRanks, on a count of 27 buys, four holds and two sells since the listing, has an average target of 235.10 dollars, which it said implied about 37 percent upside from the price it was using.
The company news attached to the rally was a report, not a filing. Recent accounts say SpaceX is in talks with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company about a facility that could make chips for SpaceX. Neither company has published a contract, a site, or a capacity number. The share move does not wait for that. SPCX has traded as a public proxy for Starlink cash flow and for Starship cadence since the listing, and a chip story fits the same file.
Tesla moved with it. Musk's wealth is a blend of the two stakes, plus other holdings. A day that lifts both shares moves the index faster than a day that lifts one. The June drop showed the other side. SpaceX fell after the listing as buyers argued the debut price had run ahead of the business, and his paper wealth fell under 1 trillion even while Tesla was still a large part of the total.
What the close does not settle is the stake. Bloomberg's index estimates a private holding in a public company. It is not a cash figure, and it is not a sale. Musk has not announced a secondary offering. The 1.04 trillion number is a mark on Monday's close, and it will move with Tuesday's tape. The Associated Press later put the S&P 500 at a record 7,818.93 on Tuesday, so the next print on SPCX will not be a quiet one.
The useful comparison is the twelve-day window after the listing. A stock that can take a fortune from about 1.3 trillion to 957 billion in that span, and back through 1 trillion on a 7.6 percent day, is not a stable unit of account. Starlink subscriber counts and Starship flight rates are the operating numbers that would make the valuation less of a tape story. Neither was updated on Monday.
The TSMC report is the item to watch, because a chip facility would be a capital commitment rather than a price target. Until one of the two companies files a site, a dollar figure, or a denial, the 171.09 close is the fact, and the facility is a report. The index line at 1.04 trillion is real as a calculation. It is not a bank balance.
