Satwik and Chirag take the China Masters after a 70-minute comeback in Shenzhen

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the China Masters men’s doubles title on 6 September in Shenzhen, beating He’s Jiting and Ren Xiangyu 11-21, 21-13, 21-17 in one hour and 10 minutes. It was their third final at this tournament. They had lost the 2023 and 2025 finals. This time they left with the Super 750 trophy.

The match was their tenth BWF World Tour title and their second Super 750 of the 2026 season after the Singapore Open. They also reached the Thailand Open Super 500 final this year. Against He and Ren the head-to-head is now 3-0. The Chinese pair, once ranked as high as world No. 4, arrived in the final around world No. 70 after a long gap on tour.

How the three games broke

He and Ren took the first game in a rush. They led 5-0, then 11-5 at the interval, and closed 21-11. Sharp net play and smashes pinned the Indians to the back. Satwik and Chirag changed the pattern in the second game. A 26-shot rally ended with Satwik’s forehand winner for 11-7 at the break. They stretched the lead to 19-13. What the title changes

Indian men’s doubles has a short list of pairs who win Super 750 events outside home soil and then repeat. Satwik and Chirag are on that list. Ten World Tour titles puts them in a different bracket from pairs who collect one big week and fade. The China Masters had been the hole in the résumé. They had the Singapore title this season. They did not have a title in China.

He and Ren’s ranking drop made the final look, on paper, softer than a home final should be. The first game showed why that reading was lazy. The Chinese pair still had the net and the early smash. The Indians had to win the match twice: once to stay in it after 11-21, and again to close a decider that started 0-4.

The next test is whether the same pair can take that form into the rest of the World Tour calendar without another final they do not convert. For one Sunday in Shenzhen they converted. The scoreboard is 11-21, 21-13, 21-17. The title is theirs.
