Ronaldo says Jesus broke his word twice and apologises for the walkout
Cristiano Ronaldo said Portugal coach Jorge Jesus promised him 30 minutes against Norway, left him unused after a halftime warmup, and then failed to read an agreed eight-point note. He apologised for not acknowledging fans and said he left the Denmark camp. CNN Portugal reported he will not return while Jesus is coach.

Cristiano Ronaldo said Portugal coach Jorge Jesus broke his word twice, and he apologised for walking out on the fans. The statement, issued on Tuesday after he left the national-team camp in Denmark and returned to Madrid, is his account of the Norway match and of a meeting that followed it. He said he remains available after any punishment. CNN Portugal reported the same day that he would not return while Jesus is coach.
On his telling, Jesus told him on the day of the Norway game that he would play 30 minutes. He warmed up from halftime, watched the minutes pass, and was not called. He called that the first broken word. Everyone, he said, knew the rest. He did not go over to acknowledge the supporters. That, he wrote, was a mistake for which he takes responsibility, and it should not have happened. He apologised to the Portuguese public who had backed the team, to the fans, and to people who had travelled although they were not Portuguese.
The second breach, in his account, came at a later meeting. Jesus, Ronaldo, and Simao Coutinho, sporting director of his club Al Nassr, agreed that the coach would clarify the episode at his next news conference. An eight-point note was prepared. Ronaldo said the note recorded that he had never demanded playing time, that he had respected the coach's decisions, and that asking him to warm up without bringing him on had been a mistake. He said the note did not require Jesus to apologise to him. He said the coach's public remarks did not match the private text. That was the second broken word. He decided to leave the camp rather than wait for another one.
He framed the exit as a rule he had already set for himself. If he no longer felt useful to the group, he would pack and go. He said his presence from that moment would only harm the squad. He apologised again, and he said the broken word had affected him deeply. Al Jazeera reported the same sequence: a promise of 30 minutes, an unused warmup, an agreed clarification that did not appear, and a departure that still left an international return open on his side.
The federation has the other file. A captain and all-time leading scorer who leaves a camp without waiting for a disciplinary process forces a selection choice before the next window. Jesus has not, in the reports of Tuesday, accepted the eight-point note as the account he will use. CNN Portugal's report, carried by AS, is that Ronaldo will not come back while this coach remains. Those two positions can both be true for a week: the player says he is available after punishment, a broadcaster says the door is shut while Jesus is in the job.
The concrete objects in the dispute are few. A promised 30 minutes. A warmup from halftime. A meeting with a club sporting director present. An eight-point paper. A news conference that, on Ronaldo's account, did not read the paper. A flight from the Denmark camp to Madrid. An apology for ignoring the crowd. The Portugal job now turns on whether the federation treats that paper as a private grievance or as a selection fact. Ronaldo has put his version on the record. Jesus has the next press conference, if he wants to answer the eight points one by one.
