The National Testing Agency has published UGC-NET June 2026 results for 84 of 87 subjects. Scorecards and category-wise cut-offs are live at ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
6,07,151 candidates sat those 84 papers. 1,47,579 of them cleared at least one of the three eligibility bands, about 24.31 percent of the appeared field. The bands are stacked. 4,241 candidates qualified for the Junior Research Fellowship and assistant professor track. 45,904 qualified for assistant professor plus PhD admission. The rest of the qualified list sits in the PhD-only band.
Cut-offs vary sharply by subject. Persian posted the highest JRF mark at 254. Geography and Arabic followed at 250. Public Administration stood at 240 for JRF, 216 for assistant professor and 188 for PhD only. Philosophy and Music both asked 236 for JRF. Education sat at 232. Economics required 224 for unreserved JRF, 196 for assistant professor and 170 for PhD only. Political Science was 222, 196 and 170. History was lower: 190, 168 and 148. Kashmiri and Bodo had the lowest JRF lines at 150. Konkani was 152. Chinese was 158.
Three large papers are missing from this release. English, Commerce and Sociology will be re-conducted after errors in the June question papers. English and Commerce are scheduled for 9 September, morning and afternoon. Sociology is on 10 September in the morning session. Candidates in those subjects who try to log in now may see an invalid application message. NTA has said they will not pay a second fee. Fresh admit cards will be issued. Results for the three papers will come after that exam and its evaluation.
The June session itself ran from 22 June to 30 June, with a spillover date on 5 July. Provisional keys went up on 16 August. Challenges closed on 18 August. Final keys for the 84 subjects were issued with the result on 28 August.
The numbers sit inside a year of repair at the testing body. The Department of Personnel and Training has just posted five new directors into NTA. A four-tier paper check and a CISF security plan are part of the same overhaul. Re-holding three mass-enrolment papers in September is the visible cost of the June errors. English, Commerce and Sociology are among the highest-volume NET subjects. Their candidates will sit again while the 84-subject cohort already has a score.
JRF is the scarce ticket. 4,241 fellowships against more than six lakh appeared papers is a tight ratio even before English, Commerce and Sociology add their own JRF lists in October. Universities hiring assistant professors will use the larger 45,904 band. PhD admissions will use the third. The cut-off table is the practical document. A candidate in History at 189 marks is out of JRF. A candidate in Persian at 253 is out too. The subject, not the raw effort, sets the line.
