NIA searches five states over cyber attacks on 54 government websites during Operation Sindoor

The National Investigation Agency conducted searches at five locations across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Bihar and Delhi on August 25 in a cyber terrorism case linked to attacks on government websites.
The case was registered by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad. Investigators say the accused attempted sophisticated distributed denial-of-service attacks against 54 websites of Government of India entities during Operation Sindoor last year. The targets included critical computer infrastructure with the apparent aim of compromising national sovereignty and creating public fear.
Two accused have been arrested. Teams seized laptops, mobile phones, pen drives and other digital devices from sites in Junnar in Pune, Nadiad in Kheda, Ramagundam in Karimnagar, Gopalganj and Delhi.
The investigation remains active. Officials describe the operation as an attempt to disrupt essential digital services of the state.
Operation Sindoor itself was a government initiative whose details have not been fully disclosed in public statements connected to this case. The NIA action marks a formal federal probe into the earlier cyber incidents.
