NIA searches five states in cyber terrorism case linked to Operation Sindoor
The National Investigation Agency raided locations in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Bihar and Delhi over alleged DDoS attacks on 54 government websites during last year’s Operation Sindoor. Two accused are already under arrest.

The National Investigation Agency conducted searches at five locations across five states on Monday in a cyber terrorism case linked to attempted attacks on government websites during Operation Sindoor.
The raids took place in Junnar in Pune district of Maharashtra, Nadiad in Kheda district of Gujarat, Ramagundam in Karimnagar district of Telangana, Gopalganj in Bihar, and Delhi.
According to the NIA, the case was registered on 25 June 2025 by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad. It concerns sophisticated Distributed Denial-of-Service attacks aimed at 54 websites belonging to Government of India entities. The targets included critical computer resources and Critical Information Infrastructure.
The agency said the attacks were carried out with the intent to compromise national sovereignty, security and unity and to incite public fear. The period of the attacks coincided with Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.
Two accused have already been arrested. During the investigation, technical analysis identified additional suspects who allegedly provided support and assistance in preparing for and upgrading skills needed for the DDoS operations.
Search warrants were obtained from a competent court. Officers seized three laptops, five mobile phones, pen drives and other digital devices containing material related to hacking activities. The suspects were examined about their association with those already in custody.
Further investigation continues. The NIA has described the case as part of its broader effort to counter cyber threats directed at critical national infrastructure.
