Neeraj Chopra finished second in the javelin competition at the Lausanne Diamond League on Friday with a season-best throw of 88.05 metres. Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage took the top spot with 88.14 metres.
Chopra’s mark was his best since the 88.16 metres he achieved while winning the Paris Diamond League in June 2025. It was also his season’s best. The 28-year-old has finished outside the top two in only two competitions over the past five years.
The nine-man field featured several strong throwers. Chopra produced the 88.05-metre effort in the second round. Pathirage’s winning throw came later in the competition.
Chopra remains one of the most consistent performers in the event. The result keeps him in contention for further Diamond League points as the season progresses toward the final.
