Jharkhand CID arrests take JSSC-CGL case to 13 and add a Ranchi coaching agent

Jharkhand’s Criminal Investigation Department said on 15 September that it had arrested Dilip Kumar Paswan in the 2023 JSSC Combined Graduate Level case and Sanjit Kumar in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission file, taking the CGL tally to 13 and adding another coaching operator to a JPSC list that already exceeds 20 names.

Paswan, 41, is from Jamui in Bihar. ANI said he was picked up from East Kenda Colony in West Burdwan, West Bengal. PTI described the same man as a Jamui resident held over the CGL paper. The CID says he gave unfair help to several candidates. He was produced in court and sent to judicial custody. Thirteen people now sit on that CGL roster.

Sanjit Kumar, also named Sanjeet in ANI copy, lives on Ratu Road under Sukhdeo Nagar police station in Ranchi. He runs Shivangan Coaching. The CID calls him an agent who collected money from candidates by promising to get them through JPSC papers, including the 14th preliminary examination. He is in judicial custody. The JPSC case has already produced more than 20 arrests. Former commission chairman L. Khiangte was arrested on 10 August.

Job seekers have been on the street since 25 July. They want the JPSC and JSSC exams cancelled and a CBI inquiry. The state government has already cancelled several recruitment tests. The CID is still treating both files as its own. That is the political tension in Ranchi this week: a state agency adding names, and a protest that does not trust the state agency.

Recruitment papers in Jharkhand are not a side story. They are how graduates enter the police, the secretariat and the field offices. When a coaching owner on Ratu Road is described as an agent, every paid “guidance” batch looks tainted. When a man from Jamui is said to have helped CGL candidates, the suspicion crosses the state line into Bihar and Bengal. That is why the CID is making arrests outside Ranchi.

Khiangte’s August arrest is the fact that keeps the JPSC file from being dismissed as a few touts. A former chairman in custody means the commission itself is inside the inquiry. The new coaching arrest does not prove the chairman’s guilt. It does show the CID is still walking the money from the classroom back toward the office.

What the 15 September briefing does not give is the charge sheets, the sums collected, or the number of candidates who paid. Those will decide whether the protests shrink or grow. Cancellation of papers helps students who want a clean retest. It punishes students who already sat a paper they believe they earned. The CID’s job, as stated, is to keep adding accused. The government’s job is to say which exams still count.

Further investigation is the phrase both PTI and ANI close with. The lists are 13 for CGL and more than 20 for JPSC. Two more names went on those lists on Tuesday morning.
