External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will visit Russia on August 23 and 24 to co-chair the 27th session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation.
The Ministry of External Affairs announced the visit on Saturday. It comes at the invitation of Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, the Russian co-chair of the commission.
Jaishankar will also meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to exchange views on regional and global issues.
The IRIGC-TEC is the main institutional mechanism for reviewing bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, science, technology and culture. The previous session took place in Moscow in August 2025.
India and Russia maintain a strategic partnership that includes defence, energy and economic links. The upcoming talks are expected to assess progress under the Programme of Economic Cooperation until 2030 and address remaining barriers in logistics and payments.
Jaishankar last travelled to Moscow in November 2025 for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting. The current visit focuses on the civilian economic track of the partnership.
