Indian Railways introduced the Amrit Bharat Express operating between Bhagalpur in Bihar and Ahmedabad in Gujarat on August 20, 2026. Eastern Railway said the train was added to address growing passenger demand and to strengthen links between the two regions.
The service forms part of the broader Amrit Bharat series of trains designed for improved amenities and higher occupancy on key routes. Exact departure times, intermediate stops and fare structure were notified through the usual railway channels.
Bhagalpur and Ahmedabad sit at opposite ends of a long corridor that previously relied on a limited number of direct long-distance options. The new train expands capacity for migrants, students, traders and families who travel between eastern India and western industrial centres.
Railways continues to roll out additional Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat services as part of its fleet modernisation. The Bhagalpur-Ahmedabad pairing targets a specific demand gap identified in passenger data.
Bookings opened through the standard IRCTC and station counters. Early occupancy figures will determine whether frequency is increased or additional coaches are added in coming months.
