India's junior hockey sides sweep Asia Cup finals and book World Cup places

India's junior women beat China 1-0 in the AHF Junior Asia Cup final at Moqi on 13 September. Sanika Chandrakant Mane scored in the 17th minute. The same day, India's junior men beat South Korea 4-1 in their final. Ajeet Yadav, Anmol Ekka, Prabhdeep Singh and Ashu Maurya scored. Lee Minhyeok had Korea's only goal. Both teams qualified for the FIH Junior World Cups.

The women's result is a third straight Junior Asia Cup. India had already won the previous two editions. China, the host, held a goalless first quarter. Two minutes into the second, Mane found space about five metres from goal, met a long slap-push, and deflected the ball past Xu Mengjiao. China earned the only penalty corner of the match. The shot was ruled out because the ball crossed the goal-line above the legal height. India then defended the lead for more than two quarters.

The women had beaten South Korea 5-1 in the semi-final, with a hat-trick from drag-flicker Supriya, and Pakistan 19-0 in the quarter-final. They finished the tournament unbeaten after topping the Elite Pool. Tim White, appointed head coach earlier in 2026, has a continental title in his first major campaign. Hockey India will pay each player 3 lakh rupees and each support-staff member 1.5 lakh rupees.

The men now have six Junior Asia Cup titles, the most in the event's history, and four in a row. They had shared a three-in-a-row mark with Pakistan. Sunday broke that tie. Pakistan's three titles came between 1988 and 1996. Korea won in 2000. Malaysia won in 2012. India's recent run is 2015, 2023, 2024 and 2026.

Maurya's 50th-minute goal made it 4-0 before Minhyeok scored in the 54th. The remaining minutes did not change the result. The men's team had already booked its World Cup place by reaching the final. The 4-1 score made the qualification a title as well.

Two junior continental trophies on one day is a planning fact for Hockey India, not only a medal table. The junior World Cups are the next selection filter for the senior pipelines that will feed the next Olympic cycle. Mane's deflection and the four names on the men's scoresheet are the immediate record. The deeper one is the double qualification. Both Indian junior sides will be at the world events. China, hosting the women's final, will not be the Asian champion when those World Cups begin.

Junior Asia Cup titles have a direct World Cup ticket attached. That is why Sunday's two scores matter more than a friendly result. The women's 1-0 was a defensive title. The men's 4-1 was an attacking one. White's first campaign now has a trophy. The men's four-in-a-row run now stands alone in the record book.
