India juniors beat China 1-0 for a third straight Women's Junior Asia Cup

India's junior women beat hosts China 1-0 in the AHF Junior Asia Cup final on Sunday in Moqi. Sanika Chandrakant Mane scored in the 17th minute. The win is India's third title in a row in the under-20 women's event and books a place at the next FIH Junior World Cup.

Pakistan recorded no goal, no penalty corner and no stroke. In the semi-finals drag-flicker Supriya scored three from corners in a 5-1 win over South Korea.

The men finished the double

On the same Sunday in Moqi, Anmol Ekka's junior men beat the Republic of Korea 4-1 to win a sixth Junior Asia Cup and a fourth in a row. Both Indian teams qualified for their Junior World Cups. The women's hat-trick of Asia titles and the men's sixth crown are now on the same date line.

Weather at pushback for the women's final, according to the FIH sheet, was overcast and 11 degrees Celsius. Pitch 1 at the Moqi Training Base hosted both gold games. Those details matter only as proof that the results sit in the federation database, not only in national press releases.

China had home crowd and a prior draw with India in the pool. The disallowed corner was their best look. India's defence held the last two quarters without adding a second goal. For a final on the host's pitch, 1-0 is a thin margin that still counts as a title. The next test is the Junior World Cup field, which will not be limited to Asian opponents who concede 19 in a quarter-final.
