Pakistan were bowled out for 55 in 18.1 overs against India in the Women's Asia Cup at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday, 5 September. It is Pakistan's lowest total in women's T20 internationals, one run below the 56 they made against New Zealand on the same ground in 2024. India chased 56 in 8.4 overs and won by seven wickets with 68 balls to spare.
Pakistan chose to bat. Muneeba Ali (13 off 15) and Shawaal Zulfiqar (14 off 14) put on 27. That was the only stand of the innings. Shafali Verma removed Muneeba in the fifth over. Sree Charani then took two in the sixth, Gull Feroza for 0 and Zulfiqar, and Pakistan were 29 for 3. They slipped to 32 for 4, then 35 for 6. The last ten wickets cost 28 runs. Only the two openers reached double figures.
Charani finished with 3 for 7 from four overs. Prema Rawat took 3 for 9. Deepti Sharma had 2 for 5. Verma took the other wicket. All ten Pakistan wickets fell to spin. The surface in Dubai has now seen Pakistan's two lowest T20I totals in two years. The previous lows on the list were 60 against England at Taunton in 2009 and 63 against India at Guangzhou in 2012.
India had already booked a semi-final place with wins over Thailand and Hong Kong and sat top of Group A before this match. They did not need to rush. Early wickets in the chase still came. Harmanpreet Kaur, unbeaten on 18 off 18, ended it with a six. Deepti was 12 not out. The pair took India to 57 for 3. The captain had no reason to keep batting once the target was gone.
The head-to-head line in this tournament now reads India 7, Pakistan 1 in Women's Asia Cup meetings, and the pattern is familiar. India used spin the same way in the T20 World Cup meeting earlier this year. The difference on Saturday was speed. A side that was 27 without loss was all out before 19 overs. That is not a slow squeeze. It is a collapse.
Pakistan still have a path if they beat Hong Kong. A loss that heavy, though, changes how a dressing room walks into a must-win game. The batting order did not lay a second partnership. The bowling had no total to defend. Harmanpreet could afford to wait for the ball she wanted and then hit it into the stands.
Records in T20 cricket fall often. This one will stick because of the opponent and the ground. Pakistan's previous floor was set in Dubai against New Zealand. India came to the same square and lowered it by one run, then knocked the runs off before the ninth over. Group tables will show a seven-wicket win. The scorecard shows 55 and a spinning circle that never broke.
India go on as group leaders. Pakistan go on needing a result. The 27-run opening stand is the passage both teams will replay: the moment the innings still looked like an innings, before Charani's sixth over closed the door.
