IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Multiple States Including Delhi, UP and West Bengal

The India Meteorological Department has forecast rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across large parts of India between 25 and 30 August 2026, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in several states.
Heavy rainfall is likely in western Uttar Pradesh, while eastern Uttar Pradesh may see fairly widespread to widespread rain from 25 to 27 August. Heavy rain is also expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh on 25 and 26 August.
Four people were killed in rain-related incidents across 65 cities in Uttar Pradesh on 24 August. Mathura recorded flooding of roads and residential areas.
Alerts also cover Delhi, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Assam, Chhattisgarh and other regions. Delhi received a red alert for continued wet weather.
The forecasts form part of the ongoing monsoon activity that has already produced repeated waterlogging in the National Capital Region and other urban centres.
State disaster management authorities have been advised to prepare for possible flooding and related disruptions.
