Houthi rebels said overnight airstrikes targeted the Red Sea island of Kamaran, the Qanawis district north of Hodeida, and Jawf province. The Houthi-run al-Masirah television network blamed Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. Saudi officials did not immediately confirm or deny the strikes.
The reports come amid continued fighting in Yemen and cross-border attacks. Saudi Arabia has said it faces ongoing incoming fire, and Riyadh airport remained closed for a period after earlier barrages. The Saudi-led coalition has reported drones and missiles directed at the kingdom without confirming interception results in every case.
Houthi forces have carried out repeated attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and on targets inside Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The coalition has responded with airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas. The latest claimed strikes fit that pattern of tit-for-tat actions.
Kamaran is a Red Sea island that has seen previous military activity. Qanawis lies near the port city of Hodeida, a key entry point for goods. Jawf is an inland province where fighting has flared at various points in the war.
No casualty figures were released by either side in the immediate aftermath. Houthi media described the strikes as targeting their positions. Independent confirmation of damage or locations hit was not available from outside sources by midday.
The conflict in Yemen has continued for more than a decade. A United Nations-backed truce has reduced large-scale fighting at times but has not ended cross-border attacks or internal clashes. Houthi control of large parts of the north, including the capital Sanaa, remains in place.
Saudi Arabia has sought to reduce its direct military involvement while maintaining pressure through the coalition and air operations when attacked. The Houthis have framed their actions as resistance to the coalition and support for Palestinian groups in the wider regional conflict.
Red Sea shipping has faced elevated risk from Houthi attacks on commercial vessels. Insurance rates and route diversions have already increased costs for cargo moving through the area. Further strikes on Yemeni territory or on shipping would affect those calculations.
The absence of an immediate Saudi statement leaves the precise targets and results unclear. Previous exchanges have sometimes been confirmed hours later through official coalition statements or satellite imagery analysis by outside groups.
Regional actors, including Iran, continue to influence the conflict through support for the Houthis. Direct Iranian involvement in specific strikes is rarely confirmed in real time. The pattern of Houthi claims and coalition responses has become a regular feature of the war.
Further details on damage assessments and any Saudi response are expected as both sides issue additional statements. The strikes add to the ongoing cycle of attacks that has prevented a lasting reduction in violence across Yemen.
