The Hawk Fire near Reno, Nevada, burned at least 30 structures and forced large-scale evacuations by 24-25 August 2026.
Officials reported the fire had grown beyond 15,000 acres. Nearly 100,000 people were urged to evacuate. Two hospitals were also evacuated. The National Guard was deployed to support firefighting and public-safety operations.
Strong winds and dry conditions contributed to rapid spread. Residents described difficult escapes through smoke and flames. The fire remains active and the full extent of property damage and any injuries is still being assessed.
