Harry Kane reaches 100 Bundesliga goals in 98 games as Bayern beat Union 7-0
A 39th-minute penalty at the Allianz Arena broke Dieter Müller’s 1977 mark of 129 matches. Michael Olise scored a hat-trick and set up Kane’s second as Bayern went top.

Harry Kane became the fastest player to score 100 Bundesliga goals on 18 September, converting a 39th-minute penalty in Bayern Munich's 7-0 win over Union Berlin. It was his 98th league appearance. Dieter Müller needed 129 games for Cologne to reach the same number in 1977. Kane headed a second goal in the 54th minute from a Michael Olise cross and left the Allianz Arena with 101 league goals.
Jamal Musiala opened the scoring in the 18th minute from an Alphonso Davies pass. Olise was fouled by Tom Rothe for the penalty that made Kane's hundred. Olise then scored four minutes later from a Musiala ball, completed a hat-trick with strikes in the 73rd and 76th minutes, and had already laid on Kane's header. Substitute Ismael Saibari added the fifth in the 70th minute. Manuel Neuer had to make two early second-half saves, including one from Janik Haberer, before the game turned into a rout.
A record Kane did not know he held
On Sky Germany after the match, presenter Nele Ocik told Kane he had just taken Müller's record by 31 games, almost a full season. Kane asked, "For what?" then laughed and said he was proud of 100 and 101 Bundesliga goals in a short time. "I've loved every second of it," he said. "Playing with Michael, Lucho, Jamal, I know I'll get chances." Luis Diaz is the Lucho in that sentence. Kane also thanked the club, the staff and the coach.
He had already been the fastest Bayern player to 75, 100 and 150 goals in all competitions. Across league, cup and Europe he now has 152 goals in 154 Bayern appearances, including 61 in 51 games last season. Count every official match in a Bayern shirt and the line that travelled on Friday was 156 goals in 156 games. He is 33 and still finishing above a goal a game in the league, at a clip the Bundesliga office measured at a goal every 78.5 minutes since he arrived from Tottenham in 2023.
What the night did to the table
Bayern went top before the rest of the weekend programme. Union arrived after a decent start and left with their heaviest beating of the season. Olise's first treble in a Bayern shirt was the other story of the night and would have led the reports if Kane had not been sitting on 99 when the penalty was awarded.
Müller set his mark in a different league, with different defending and a shorter calendar. The comparison still matters because no one else had got near it. Robert Lewandowski, Gerd Müller and the rest of the century club all needed more nights. Kane has now done the hundred in England and in Germany. He said that double, more than the speed, was the part that pleased him.
Bayern's next league fixtures come quickly. Kane's own next round number is 200 for the club in all competitions. At his present rate that night is a matter of months, not seasons. Union will not be the team that stops it.
