Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Beoga quit Ed Sheeran's Loop tour

Every remaining support act on Ed Sheeran’s Loop tour walked off on 15 September. Finneas O’Connell, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and the Irish band Beoga, which had been playing as Sheeran’s touring group, posted their exits within hours of one another. They were answering the removal of Macklemore, who was cut after pro-Palestine remarks at two MetLife Stadium shows in New Jersey earlier this month.

Messina Touring Group, the U.S. promoter, told Rolling Stone on 14 September that upcoming venues would not let the show proceed with Macklemore on the bill. Cancellation, the company said, would hit hundreds of thousands of ticket holders. Sheeran posted his own note the next day. He said he had tried to keep Macklemore on the road and that the decision belonged to the promoter and the rooms, not to him.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft later said he had led the campaign. He threatened to block Sheeran at Gillette Stadium and asked other stadium owners to do the same. That is the pressure the openers say they are answering.

What the departing acts wrote

Finneas, booked for six South American dates in November and December, wrote that “artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed” and that he stands with Palestinians. Aaron Rowe, the Irish singer down for the ten remaining North American nights, said the choice was not light. Sheeran, he wrote, had changed his life. “As Irish people we know all too well about genocide, forced famine and violent occupation.” Beoga said they had been friends with Sheeran for more than a decade and would remain so. They also said they were leaving to protest “the silencing of Macklemore by zionist lobbies.” Lukas Graham posted a shorter goodbye: the decision was difficult and they would stand by it.

The tour now has a headliner, a promoter, a list of stadiums and no published openers for the U.S. and South American legs that have not yet been played. Replacing four acts plus a backing band in mid-route is possible. It is also a different show. Beoga’s departure matters in a way a warm-up slot does not. They were inside Sheeran's set, not in front of it.

The wider booking problem

Stadium tours run on venue clauses, sponsorship clauses and local political weather. Kraft made the weather visible. Once Gillette and other rooms said Macklemore could not walk on stage, the promoter’s choice was to drop the opener or cancel the date. Sheeran chose the date. His remaining support chose Macklemore. Fans who bought a bill with those names now hold a ticket to a thinner night.

None of the departing statements attacked Sheeran’s catalogue. Several went out of their way to keep the personal tie. The split is about who is allowed to talk about Gaza from a stadium runway in the United States in 2026, and about who owns that runway. On this tour the rooms won the first round and the openers conceded the second by leaving.
