Celine Dion arrived in Paris on Friday for the first concert run she has attempted since she made her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis public in 2022.
She flew overnight from Las Vegas and landed at Le Bourget around midday. Her rooms are at Le Royal Monceau on Avenue Hoche, the hotel she has used for years in the city. Fans and cameras packed the pavement. She waved, shaped a heart with her hands and told BFMTV she was ready and a bit tight because it had been a long time. Asked which song would open the first night, she said she could not say. It was a big secret.
The engagement is billed as Celine Dion Paris 2026-2027. Sixteen shows run from 12 September to 17 October at Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, the venue also known as Paris La Defense Arena. The nights fall on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Ten more dates sit in May 2027, from the 8th to the 29th. Each house holds more than 30,000. The lottery for early tickets drew more than nine million entries. The dates sold out in hours.
Dion is 58. She has sold close to 260 million albums. The last full tour, Courage, ended in 2020. Apart from her appearance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, she has not sung a proper French run in about a decade. Willo Perron is listed as creative director. The set is expected to mix the English catalogue with the French one. "My Heart Will Go On" and "Because You Loved Me" will be in the room. So will the chansons the Paris crowd treats as local property.
Stiff-person syndrome is a rare neurological condition that stiffens muscles and can make a long set an athletic problem, not only a vocal one. Dion has not published a medical bulletin with this arrival. The fact of 26 booked nights is the statement. Promoters do not hold an arena of that size on a guess.
She called Paris her second home in the television interview. Quebec remains the first. The residency is built for a European audience that kept buying the records while she was off the road. The May 2027 block was added after the first on-sale, which is a commercial fact as much as a sentimental one.
Rehearsals now have two weeks. The first paid night is Saturday, 12 September. If the voice and the body hold through mid-October, the May dates become a second season rather than a hope. That is the only test that counts once the lights go up in Nanterre.
