Celine Dion reaches Paris to rehearse a 16-night sold-out arena run
The first show is 12 September at Paris La Défense Arena. All 16 dates through 17 October sold out within hours of going on sale. Ten more nights are booked for May 2027. Dion has not toured since cancelling the Courage World Tour after her 2022 diagnosis.

Celine Dion arrived in Paris on Friday to begin rehearsals for her first run of full concerts since she disclosed a diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome in 2022. Fans and camera crews packed the pavement outside the Royal Monceau on Avenue Hoche as she stepped out in a beige trench coat and dark glasses, making a heart with her hands.
The residency is billed as Celine Dion Paris 2026. It opens on 12 September at Paris La Défense Arena in the western suburbs and runs for 16 nights through 17 October, three shows a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Each night is built for more than 30,000 people. Ten further dates in May 2027 take the total to 26.
Asked by BFMTV which song she would sing first, she said she could not say. "It's a big secret." She added that she was ready and a bit tense because it had been a long time, and that Paris felt like a second home.
The numbers behind the comeback
When tickets went on sale after a lottery for early access, more than nine million people entered the queue. The original block sold out in hours. Promoters first announced ten nights, then added six in the same autumn window, then ten more in May 2027: 8, 12, 14, 15, 19, 21, 22, 26, 28 and 29 May. Previously registered fans were given a 3 May window for the extra year.
Willo Perron is listed as creative director. The set is planned in English and French, the two catalogues that built a career of nearly 260 million albums. Dion is 58. Her last conventional tour, Courage, stopped in 2020. She sang at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a short appearance that is the only public stage work most French audiences have seen from her in a decade.
What stiff-person syndrome did to the calendar
The rare neurological condition causes muscle rigidity and spasms that can make walking, standing and holding a note unreliable. Dion described those limits in 2022 and cancelled the rest of Courage. A documentary later showed the work of rebuilding breath and posture. The Paris run is the first time that recovery will be tested across a five-week block of arena dates, not a single ceremony.
That is why the rehearsal window before 12 September matters as much as the sold-out signs. An arena residency is a machine: load-in, band, lights, a voice that has to last 16 nights with only midweek gaps. If a spasm ends a show, there is no next city to absorb the date. The date is the same building.
Why Paris and not Las Vegas
Dion's long Las Vegas contracts at Caesars Palace defined her as a fixture rather than a touring act. Paris La Défense Arena is Europe's largest indoor venue. A French-language audience is built into the seats. The city also keeps her close to medical teams and to the hotel where Friday's crowd was already waiting.
The commercial risk sits with the promoter and the building, not with a 40-city routing. The artistic risk sits with Dion. She has to open a show whose first song she will not name, in a room that bought tickets on the promise that the voice from "My Heart Will Go On" and "Pour que tu m'aimes encore" can still carry the back rows.
Rehearsals start now. The first public answer arrives on 12 September.
