Celine Dion arrived in Paris on Friday to rehearse a 16-night residency that begins on 12 September at Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre. Fans and cameras waited outside the Royal Monceau on Avenue Hoche. She made a heart with her hands, blew kisses and told BFMTV she was ready and a bit uptight because it had been a long time. Asked for the first song, she said it was a big secret. She called the city her second home.
The autumn block runs from 12 September to 17 October, three nights a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Promoters put capacity above 30,000 a night. Ten further dates are set for 8 to 29 May 2027. The full run is 26 shows. A lottery for early tickets drew more than nine million entries when the residency was announced on 30 March, Dion’s birthday, in a video filmed under the Eiffel Tower. The advertised nights sold in hours.
The engagement is her first proper concert series since she cancelled the Courage World Tour after disclosing a diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome in 2022. She sang at the Paris 2024 Olympics. She has not toured in the ordinary sense since 2020. She is 58. Stiff-person syndrome is a rare neurological condition that can lock muscles and make a two-hour set an open medical question. Friday’s appearance in a trench coat and heels was the first public answer of this week: she is in the city, and the dates remain on sale as sold-out.
Creative direction is credited to Willo Perron. The set, she has said, will mix the English and French catalogues that built a reported 260 million album sales: the Titanic ballad, the French standards, the Las Vegas years. Paris La Défense Arena is Europe’s largest indoor hall. Putting a singer who has not completed a tour in four years into that room 16 times in five weeks is a production risk as much as a sentimental one. Crews will spend the next two weeks learning how long she can stand, how often she needs to sit, and which keys now sit inside a safe range.
Quebec and France have shared her for four decades. The crowd on Avenue Hoche was doing the old work of a fan base that has waited through cancellations. The useful fact for September is not the hotel arrival. It is whether the 12 September opener happens at advertised length, and whether the 16 October closer is still on the board when that night comes. The May 2027 dates are the option if the autumn run holds.
