The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 on 15 October 2026 to complete a four-game sweep of the National League Championship Series. The win sends Milwaukee to the World Series for the first time since 1982.
Garrett Mitchell hit a solo home run in the sixth inning that put the Brewers ahead. Milwaukee had trailed 4-0 after Shohei Ohtani hit a three-run home run in the second inning. Jake Bauers started the comeback with a two-run double. The Brewers scored in three different innings to erase the early deficit.
Four Brewers pitchers held the Dodgers scoreless over the final seven innings. JoJo Romero worked two scoreless innings. Aaron Ashby finished the game with three scoreless frames for his second save of the postseason. Catcher William Contreras guided the pitching staff through a bullpen game.
The Brewers won every game of the series after trailing. They hit seven home runs in the four games while the Dodgers managed one. Milwaukee finished the regular season with 103 wins, the most in Major League Baseball. Their payroll ranked 19th in the league at roughly $143 million.
The Dodgers entered the series as two-time defending World Series champions. Their bid for a third consecutive title ended. Milwaukee had never won a National League pennant before this series. Its only previous World Series appearance came in 1982 as an American League team, when it lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.
The World Series begins on 23 October at American Family Field in Milwaukee. The Brewers will face either the Cleveland Guardians or the Tampa Bay Rays. Cleveland holds a 2-1 lead in the American League Championship Series after a 3-2 win on 15 October. Both possible opponents rank among the lowest-payroll teams in baseball.
Manager Pat Murphy said the team came in hungry and played to win. Mitchell said the club is excited to return home and celebrate with its fans. Owner Mark Attanasio plans to present the National League Championship Series trophy to former commissioner Bud Selig, who brought the franchise to Milwaukee in 1970.
The Brewers ranked last in the National League in home runs during the regular season. They out-homered the Dodgers 7-1 in the Championship Series. The bullpen recorded the final 27 outs of the series without allowing a run in the last three games combined. Milwaukee now sits four wins from its first championship.
The series drew 49,104 fans to Dodger Stadium for the clincher. Brewers supporters in the stands celebrated the final out. Jackson Chourio caught the last out in left-center field. The club will have a week off before the World Series opener.
Milwaukee last reached the World Series 44 years ago. No current player was alive for that 1982 series. The franchise has changed leagues since then. It remains one of the smallest markets in baseball. The sweep ended the Dodgers' attempt to become the first National League team to win three straight titles.
