Apple began taking pre-orders on Tuesday for HomeView, its first dedicated smart-home display. The device carries a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen mounted on a domed speaker base with a stainless-steel tilt hinge. It is priced at $299 in the United States and will reach customers on 13 November. A wall-mounted variant at the same price uses purpose-built mounts from Schneider Home.
HomeView is designed for shared household use. Its camera recognises up to six registered users and switches the interface to each person’s personal settings. The screen adjusts brightness automatically between 0.3 and 500 nits and displays simpler information when viewed from across a room. Users can control HomeKit devices by voice, view up to nine camera feeds at once, and place FaceTime calls. With an iCloud+ subscription the device delivers end-to-end encrypted recognition of people, pets, packages and vehicles, plus video descriptions of HomeKit Secure Video clips.
The product runs Apple Intelligence with Siri AI. Apple states that personal context drawn from a user’s iPhone remains private and is not shared across household accounts. Pre-orders are open in silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray for the tabletop model; the wall-mounted version is offered in space gray and silver. Wall-mount power options start at $59.95 for a USB-C connector and $79.95 for an AC-wired mount.
The announcement follows years of speculation about an Apple smart-home hub. The device is the first in a set of smart-home products the company has indicated will arrive this autumn. Apple has not released detailed specifications for the processor or the exact version of Siri AI that will ship with the unit. Customers in Singapore can begin pre-ordering on 15 October. The product will be available at Apple Stores and through select partners after the 13 November launch.
HomeView is intended to sit on a kitchen counter, nightstand or side table. The wall-mounted model uses two custom drivers tuned for on-wall placement. Apple has not announced international pricing outside the United States and Singapore. Further software features are expected to be detailed closer to the launch date.
