Amit Shah opens National Security Strategies Conference, stresses zero tolerance on infiltration

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 9th National Security Strategies Conference in New Delhi on 24 August 2026. The annual meeting brings together senior officials from central and state security agencies to review threats and coordinate responses.

Shah instructed agencies to apply zero tolerance to infiltration across borders. He also pointed to the growing use of artificial intelligence in detecting and disrupting terrorist networks and cyber-enabled crime.

The conference agenda included border management, radicalisation, cyber terrorism and coordination between intelligence and law-enforcement bodies. Officials from the National Investigation Agency, Intelligence Bureau and state police forces participated.

The timing coincides with continued security challenges in the Northeast and along the western border, as well as rising concern over digital fraud networks that have extracted hundreds of crores from Indian citizens. The Home Ministry has treated these as linked elements of a broader internal-security picture.

Shah’s remarks set the operational tone for the coming year: sustained pressure on infiltration routes, tighter inter-agency data sharing, and greater reliance on technology tools that can process large volumes of communications and financial data.
